Giving

'The gift of Dhamma excels all other gifts.' – the Buddha (Dharmapada verse 354)

The act of offering a gift is highly praised in Buddhism as a virtuous act of lasting meritorious significance. Among all gifts, said the Buddha, ‘The gift of Dhamma excels all other gifts’. All donations to our Centre are, indeed, ‘gifts of Dhamma’. As a self-funded academic unit, our Centre relies on generous donations to develop its teaching, research, and knowledge exchange initiatives within the University of Hong Kong, regionally, and internationally.

Supporting CBS is a contribution towards maintaining the Centre’s excellence in teaching and research and allow us to continue expanding our work into the future. It can also be a gesture of appreciation and an opportunity to express your compassion and benefit people to connect with the Buddhist teachings. Your contribution will benefit the students who are studying at our Centre and they will in turn contribute to the community their knowledge of Buddhism after graduation.

You can contribute by making a direct donation to support the overall running of the Centre and specific projects. Some of our donors have offered various scholarships for prominent and disadvantaged students pursuing Buddhist Studies programmes. If you wish to share any proposal that fits your philanthropic aspirations, please contact us at (852) 3917-2847 or through email at buddhism@hku.hk
