Master of Buddhist Studies

The Master in Buddhist Studies degree (MBS) is a one year full-time and two years part-time programme based on coursework. It is offered by the Centre of Buddhist Studies (CBS) of The University of Hong Kong. The programme is intended for anyone interested to study Buddhist history, philosophy, texts, and rituals and explore Buddhism as a philosophy and art of life and its practices as a means for spiritual development in an inclusive and systematic way. The curriculum consists of 60 credits that serve as a foundation for further academic study at the research post-graduate levels (MPhil, PhD) and is open to applicants from any professional background and undergraduate major.

The degree is awarded through the Faculty of Arts. English is the primary medium of instruction and students must be proficient in spoken and written English to be considered for enrolment in addition to meeting the University's admission requirements.
